How To Hang Your Window Treatments MT

The appearance of your home is affected by how you hang your curtains. It may give a good or bad picture depending on the overall arrangement of the house. The following are tips to help you hang your window treatments MT right.

Heavy draperies once were the vogue. Today, however, many homeowners are opting for lighter, brighter treatments, especially those that don't require yards and yards of expensive drapery fabrics. For example, if you aren't looking for complete privacy in that room, you might be able to get by on some windows with a padded cornice, valances, or swags above the windows to give the windows a little color.

If you've ever watched the interior designers on TV, you've seen how they wrap a piece of fabric artfully around a curtain rod and call it a window treatment. You can get even simpler and less expensive than that if you make your rods for your curtains to hang on. For example, you might use an old pool cue, a painted tree branch, or a heavy, decorated wrapping paper tube which will give you a one of a kind look as well as save you the cost of commercial rods.

Choosing the colors for your shutter treatments can also make them truly unique. You'll want to go with colors that are currently popular because you don't want your look to be outdated as soon as you've hung the shutter treatments on the wall. Right now, terra cotta is a very popular color. Pair it with greens, blacks, and golds, and your room will look very up to date.

Cornices look much like valances, except that these are made with a different material. These are also meant to adorn the tops of shutters. Cornices are made of a board that is covered in fabric. They sufficiently do the job of framing the shutter. If you wish to acquire a softer and more regal look with your cornices, you can simply add more fabric as padding to lessen stiffness.

Count how many hooks you will need. It is advised that curtain hooks are placed in a minimum of one out of every five slots in the heading tape including one at either end. So count how many you need and make sure the exact amount is on your pole or track.

Adjust the hanging height of your curtains. It is advised to insert only the first five hooks in the middle slot, hang your curtain (ensuring a partner is taking the weight of the remaining curtain) and see the height at which the curtain is hanging. Too low and move the hooks to the bottom slot, to high and move the hooks to the top slot.

Cords are also applied for easy installation without having to open your wall with nails. If you not like the idea of fixing the shutter designs you bought yourself, then an installer will be at your place to do it for you.
