Luminaries Lights Provide Glimmering Sparkle

Decorating is one of the most effective ways to bring a certain type of flair to any party, holiday or event. The things that are chosen to embellish the walls, tables, yards and more are what set the mood and enhance the experience of all who behold it. Using luminaries lights to adorn a space can add a touch of magic and adventure.

The most common use for this type of product is to light a walkway or porch with a soft glow. They are just as effective at adding a decorative appeal to mantles, holiday settings and tables or giving a party space a warm light. Versatility is part of what makes them so useful since they can be eerie, whimsical, festive, romantic or reverent all dependent on their casing and location.

Paper or vellum bags are the most frequently used casings for this purpose, and they may be plain, colored, or have some picture printed upon them. Some styles might have die cut designs on their surface or they could use silhouetted inserts that have the scenes punched into them for a deeper effect. Crafters have been creating these for years and now they can be purchased in retail.

To keep the wind from blowing the items over, sand is usually placed in the bottom to give it some weight and stability. It also serves as a deterrent against fire when actual candles are being used for illumination. Several lighting source options are available to meet a number of personal preferences, purposes, needs and convenience.

As mentioned, the traditional option for illuminating these products are candles, typically either votive or tealight size. They provide a natural looking flicker and warm ambient glow that is quite welcoming. When the bags feature a silhouetted or die cut design, the dancing flame creates a shadow like effect that can be most interesting.

Oil lamps can provide a light source that is brighter than that given by candles. For this purpose, a wick is extended through a metal cap on a small jar filled with one to four ounces of fuel that soaks up through the cloth to provide a illumination for a certain amount of time. As the flame is more steady and stronger, they pose a greater risk of fire so they should not be left unattended.

An alternative to open flame lighting are battery operated LED units. Items of this type are available in a variety of styles such as those that look like tealight candles, round discs with multi-colored bulbs, and small rectangular pieces with multiple diodes. Many of the designs have a switch feature that allows the glow to either burn steady, or to flicker like a real fire.

LED illumination units offer even more versatility by offering the option to purchase a larger cubed, or rectangular unit that features many bulbs and runs on batteries. They tend to be a bit heavier in construction so they abolish the need to use sand to weigh the casing down. A fair number of these styles also come with the option of connecting multiple boxes together with cords that will switch them to a single electrical power source.
