Aspects Of Toronto Circumcision Procedure

By Christopher Fisher

Circumcision is a medical procedure which involves removal of foreskin that covers the tip of the penis. The procedure is typically carried out on infants who have just been born. Most hospitals in Toronto perform this procedure before a baby boy is one month old. Although the procedure can be a risky affair, Toronto circumcision surgeons perform it successfully without much complication.

Male circumcision is one old procedure that is carried out worldwide. The reasons why it is done in various cultures vary. In some places, it is part of religious activities and is compulsory. It could also be done for social purposes such as initiation. In the modern times, this practice is mostly done for the numerous health benefits that accrue from it.

Removal of the foreskin prevents paraphimosis. This is a condition in which the retracted foreskin gets stuck behind the head of penis thus cutting off the supply of blood to the glans. This is often considered a medical emergency since it can result in further complications if not treated early. Uncircumcised men may easily develop this potentially dangerous condition thus making circumcision a preventive measure.

Circumcision causes decreased risk of discomfort and injury to the penis. This is especially true for infants whereby the foreskin entirely covers the glans and cannot be retracted without causing pain. Some adults develop a condition known as phimosis whereby the foreskin cannot retracted fully thus causing discomfort especially during sex. All these challenges can be managed easily by having the foreskin removed.

The people who are opposed circumcision relate several risks related to the procedure. Scarring and development of infection on the wound is what makes a number of people reluctant about taking up the cut. To other people, the loss of penis sensation is a major concern and they would rather not give it up.

Caring for the penis after circumcision is also of very much importance. After the procedure, a wound with sutures develops. The doctors prescribe the right antibiotics to prevent medication and promote faster healing. Within a short while, the sutures and the swelling will be gone. You will hence go back to your normal activities including sex.

The penis will still require proper maintenance after the cut. Use moisturizer to prevent dryness and irritation. These if not properly cared for could cause soreness and pain during sex. Consume a diet rich in Vitamin A, C and D to promote formation of healthy tissues. The nutrients also treat the roughness that comes as a result of sex or masturbation. The functioning of a nervous system can be enhanced with increased intake of amino acids such as L-arginine.

Whether the benefits of circumcision outweigh the disadvantages is a matter of debate. Otherwise, the procedure itself is a practice that is widely acknowledged and has been passed on from generations. Much as the benefits argued are mostly from the medical point of view, the process is purely a health concern and does not influence the status of any man.
